Sunny spots, sandy soil, and rock gardens are great places for Agave. Large or small they make a great addition to your landscape. Size varies based on variety. No irrigation that ok too! Cold hardy zone 9. Yes, drought tolerant. Yes, toxic to pets and livestock so put it in an area that is not accessible to your little munchers. Many species are said to be salt tolerant. Sandy, gritty, well-draining soil is a must! They have large spikes so put them in an area with low traffic if possible. Fertilize during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a well-balanced slow release for best results. Remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.
