Cordyline Black Magic aka Ti Plant

Cordyline Black Magic aka Ti Plant

This Cordyline is considered evergreen and has beautiful glossy green foliage when it first pops out and then turns purple-black at maturity. It will produce clusters of tiny purple star-like flowers.  Makes a great contrasting plant for all that green in your landscape. Put in a landscape bed with many colors, and this plant will pop. Bright shade works well for most but they do enjoy the morning sun. Most dislike our hot summer afternoon blazing sun.   However, the Black Magic can take a little more sun than most.  Cordyline looks its best during our cooler weather. Plant in a place protected from strong gusty wind - it can cause leaf shread.   Attracts bees.  Cold hardy zone 9. Drought tolerant once established and is moderately salt tolerant.  Can achieve a height of 10 feet at maturity in its happy place.  Keep out of the strong winds - leaves will shred.  It is said to be deer-resistant.   Use as a backdrop for smaller plants or as an accent plant for your entrance or a garden bed. Plant along your pool cage in the landscape. Container grow your cordyline and place it on your patios, pool deck, inside your lanai, or on a terrace. Wherever you decide to put these beautiful colorful plants they will add a tropical flair. Fertilize in the spring, summer, and fall with a good granular slow-release tropical fertilizer, and remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.
