Croton Petra

An evergreen shrub that prefers hot, humid weather. Colorful and makes a great addition to any tropical landscape. Grows well in any container - add some to your patio, porch, pool deck, or lanai. Bring the tropics throughout your outdoor living space with the Petra. Also works indoors - just keep away from your AC/Heat vent. Grow in your brightest light location - or that hot spot in your living room. Likes a regular watering schedule and well-draining soil.  When growing indoors you should mist occasionally. Also, you may find it to be a dust accumulator so you may find yourself dusting occasionally too! Outdoors it will add that pop of color to your landscape and is a somewhat low-maintenance plant. Cold hardy zone 9.  Said to be drought tolerant but prefers a regular water schedule like most plants. They are not a fan of hard frost and should be covered with a nursery frost cloth for protection. Winter damage can be pruned off in early spring and your croton should bounce right back. They say Petra is deer-resistant. Petra is toxic to pets so plant in an area not accessible to your little muncher.   Same inside your home - do not put in an area accessible to your little munchers.  Petra can also reach 8 feet tall and approximately 4 feet or more wide make sure you are planting in a place that can accommodate its mature size or trim when needed. Fertilize spring, summer, and fall with a good slow-release tropical fertilizer, and remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application. Just one of the many beautiful crotons available at the FARM and Big League Garden Center.

The FARM and Big League Garden Center is located at 1625 Airport Rd., Ormond Beach, FL, 32174. Just west of the I95 overpass and east of Tymber Creek Rd. Hours are 10am to 4pm -Tuesday to Saturday.
