Ixora Odorata
Produces a large evergreen shrub and clusters of white or off-white FRAGRANT flowers in the summer and fall. Likes a semi-shade location in the landscape or bright indirect light. Likes a soil that is moist but well draining. Can tolerate some salt spray so it can thrive in our coastal areas. Grows well in a container too. Can reach 5 to 10 feet tall in its happy place. Cold hardy zone 9B. Moderately drought tolerant but like most plants prefers a regular watering schedule with well-draining soil. Isn't fond of frost so during our brief cold snaps cover your Odorato with nursery frost cloth in the landscape or just bring it indoors if you are growing in a container. Said to not be toxic to dogs, cats, or horses. Fertilize in early spring, summer, and fall (growing season). Use a good slow-release fertilizer before the start of spring or a regular houseplant fertilizer every other week. You can also choose to use an 8-2-12 (Palm fert) applied 4 times per year. Remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application. #StayHealthyGetDirty! #GardeningTheNewAmericanPastime!
