Mona lavender

Mona Lavender aka  Plectranthus

A quick-growing tropical perennial shrub. Considered to be evergreen, It produces a beautiful green leaf on the top and purple on the underside.  It blooms a purple flower that sits atop a purple stem.  Easy to grow with not so much care.   At maturity, it can reach 18 to 24 inches tall.  Likes a shade to part sun location in the landscape.  More sun will make the leaf color more intense, and the plant will remain smaller. A cold-sensitive plant in your landscape in the spring.   Cold hardy zone 9B and said to withstand light frost.  Booms from early spring until the first frost.  Shade tolerant and low maintenance.  Said to be deer resistant.  Drought tolerant but like other plants prefers a regular watering schedule.  Some say safe for pets, and others say it can cause stomach issues.  Deadhead blooms to promote additional blooming. Some say feed with a water-soluble fertilizer every 2 weeks, others say no.  Apply a good granular slow-release (2-3-3) after blooming finishes.  Whichever way you go, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.
