Taiwanese Ixora aka Dwarf Ixora
A tropical to semi-tropical evergreen shrub that produces a small but lush flowering shrub that produces amazingly beautiful flowers most of the year. Considered to be easy to care for and yes in a compact size. Dependable bloomers that love the sun. Work well in informal, formal, and/or tropical landscapes. Plant in groups or in a row. Butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds love Ixora in any size. Bloom heavily during the warmer months and then on and off in the cooler months. The Taiwanese have a smaller leave and when in bloom the flowers will cover most of the plant. Considered to be a slow grower and can easily be kept at 2 to 3 feet tall, Use as a low hedge or accent plant in a mixed bed. Under a low window or along a walkway or driveway. Surround those tall trees with a few. Line a deck, patio, or porch. They also work well in mobile home planter boxes. Cold hardy zone 9. Said to be deer-resistant. Not frost tolerant so cover it with frost cloth during our short bouts of cold. Moderately drought tolerant but like most plants prefer a regular watering schedule. Said to be somewhat salt tolerant. Does not like the salty wind so if on the coast plant in an area protected from that salty daily ocean breeze. Said not to be toxic to dogs, cats, or horses. Fertilize in the spring, summer, or fall with a good granular slow-release tropical fertilizer. Remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.
