Bird of Paradise aka Strelitzia Nicoai.
It produces an enormous leaf and grows in a clumping upright way and produces an exotic flower that looks like a bird's head. It spreads and needs a large area to spread and unfurl its large leaves. It will blossom on and off during warm weather. Its blooms are beautiful but the amazing tropical look that it produces in your landscape due to its foliage is amazing! A healthy White Bird of Paradise can be the showpiece of your landscape. You can use it as an accent plant at the entrance to your home. As a backdrop in a mixed planting bed or in a container on a patio or pool deck. It would at some point need to be replanted into the landscape. Use these along the property line or in front of a wooden fence for privacy. It can be the focal point in a circular drive. Remember it can reach over 20 feet tall and approximately 6 feet wide at maturity.  Keep it in a protected area from the wind as it will tear and shred the leaves. Cold hardy in zone 9B. Likes a full sun location in the landscape but can grow with partial shade. Drought tolerant once established but likes regular watering schedule with well-draining soil. Said to tolerate light salt spray. Said to tolerate temps to 24 degrees but frost can damage foliage. So if you get winter damage trim it off in early spring and your bird will flush and flourish. Believed to be toxic to pets. Fertilize in the spring, summer, and fall with a good granular slow-release tropical fertilizer. Remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions for application. #StayHealthyGetDirty
